Our Judges

The Hervey Bay Film Festival would not be able to happen without the generous time of our Judges. We would like to thank them for their generosity and for supporting the Hervey Bay Film Festival.

Home grown in sunny QLD Australia, Amy Friesen has always been a passionate storyteller and advocate for the human expression of creativity.

From Brisbane to LA, from Vancouver to Sydney, Amy has attended multiple acting and film schools. She has had experience on the improv scene, in theatre, film, TV and has worked as a Director and Producer for film companies like Yesterday Stories and Why Documentaries.

Her first writing/producing credit with the documentary Paths of Dust and Hope, filmed in Mozambique opened doors to the joy of writing and being behind the scenes. Amy has worked on numerous short films and writing scripts and her short film The Cookie was a finalist at the Far South Film Festival and the Vancouver Independent Film Festival in 2022.

She is currently working as a voice-over artist and actor and has recently launched her own acting classes curated for youth. A humanitarian at heart, Amy is always entertaining the idea that one day she will help write and produce a feature film working with and showcasing the most unlikely cultural heroes of our time.
